How the price is calculated
- For 2026 imports, the price is the average of EU ETS allowance auction clearing prices over the calendar quarter, weighted by volume, published in the first calendar week after the quarter ends.
- From 2027, the price is the average clearing price of each calendar week’s EU ETS auctions, published weekly and applicable the following week.
- Certificates are only sold from 1 February 2027, on the common central platform. Certificates for 2026 imports are bought in 2027 at the 2026 quarterly prices and surrendered by 30 September 2027.
